Have you actually beaten a Dragon Quest game yet? It feels like every game you talk about starts with "I haven't beaten this one yet." "I've only played some of this one."

DQ3 is my current favorite and yeah my experience with it was very different from yours lol. I think it wasn’t that punishing, at least on SNES. There were one or two points where I had to grind, but nothing compared to the amount of walkthrough-checking and insane grinds I did in DQ2. All in all I think I just prefer the freedom and customization in 3 over the more story driven experience in 4 and 5. I’m about to start playing DQ6 so maybe I’ll like that one more idk I will admit I had a similar experience with leaving the first town and getting my butt kicked. I didn’t realize you were supposed to bring party members with you right away, the game is not balanced around a solo character at all lmao you just get swarmed by birds Also turning your character into a sage and leveling them back up to 20 doesn’t take long. With the high level gear you’ll have in the mid/late game, they can survive battles with enemies that drop enough xp to get them back up in no time.

It's better when I imagine the place and backstory of each one while listening, like how harsh DQ5 Hero have been through and when he fight the monster while adventuring

Surprised DQ1 got S Tier I played the 3DS version, and it felt really unloved. All areas looked the same, difficulty just wasn't there at all, the story was over before it started, and it was so damn repetitive. I loved Joker, but 1 just felt shallow.

Dq3 is not as hard as you made it seem dude

DQ X is VERY playable these days. They lifted the IP ban on the US so you can play without a VPN and with the getting started guide from dqxabbey it is VERY easy for anyone to start playing in 2 or 3 hours depending on how fast you can download the game. You can play the entire base game and most of the first expansion for free. If you decide to play the rest I believe the game is around $40 USD and the sub is only like $8 or $9 a month iirc. I just got into DQ last week and it has reignited a feeling in me I had forgotten I had. I honestly didn't think it was possible to feel this way in "current-day gaming". So far I have played DQ I, DQ X, and DQ XI (ironically started with DQ X lol). I can't wait to play the others like IV, V, VIII and for XII and the HD-2D version of III to come out later this year.

One thing that is both good and bad about all of the DQ games... is that no matter how much you grind, you are never safe. There will always be a fight with one too many things to one shot... and there's a decent chance they will have Thwack. And if they do, there's way too high of a chance that it just instantly kills the whole party. Also, I hate how useless offensive magic is in the end game of almost all of them. The damage on the best spells doesn't even come close to what you can do with a good physical attack, they can't hurt metal slimes, and most bosses are just flat out immune to debuffs, or so resistant they might as well be. I think my favorites are 5 and 7. 5 because it's just a good story. Not without issues... But most issues it has are very minor. 7 because finding it let me know that this series that I love was still going, and I loved how every island was its own story. I think my favorite is the one where you have to keep going back and saving it like three times before it finally sticks. Usually, you go in, do a task, and you're done.

I just pulled this out of my closet and played it on my ps3 it was an awesome experience since I was like 12 last time I played it.

"Hey Jude" and "Let It Be" I can let slide because they they are piano heavy, and I hate when Guitar Hero & Rock Band chart the piano on guitar. "Eleanor Rigby" and "Help" do not have the same excuse. You also forgot to mention "Love Me Do" as one of the missing songs, but I could see the objection to that being the song is harmonica heavy.

Although now I think about it, it's actually a very much a bad idea to try pick a fight with any of the Senran Kagura characters. Especially Rin, Daidouji, & even True Kagura those three Shinobi ninjas alone could absolutely destroy you if you're foolish enough to try pick a fight with any of them!

Sidenote bad idea to try challenge Daidouji to a fist fight. Straight up very bad idea, do not recommend.

I mean dude the way how I see or of Hikage, I mostly think of her as some type of emotionless serpent! And I think that's mostly because her eyes that's probably why, well that and the way how her tone somewhat moves like a snake followed by the hissing sound too at times.

Looks good, but gameplay wise its kinda bad. Combat and movement mechanics are pure jank and the puzzles get repetitive real fast. They all follow the exact same scheme over and over. Its one of those games that once you have forced yourself through all the story acts you will probably never touch again.

I enjoyed this tier list, you had an optimistic outlook while creating it. A lot of people are eager to toss 4 and 7 into the trash, but it's nice to know others enjoy them like I have.

I'm just finding this video now, but you're genuine joy and enthusiasm speaking on this topic is contagious and I'm enjoying this video greatly already. I liked hearing your story at the start, and I thought you told it very well! I got this game when I was a kid back then too, my grandparents wouldn't let me have guitar hero cause of some of the songs that were in it so I could only play that at my friend's house, but when the Beatles came out they got me that and we would even play it together! It is a series of very sweet memories playing this, me on guitar, my grandpa on drums, and my grandma singing, and probably the only time they would play video games with me besides when my grandma played Animal Crossing on gamecube. Stay powerful my friend <3
